Message from Bernie

Hi, my name is Bernadette but everyone calls me Bernie.

I have worked in various sectors of the Social Services for the past 20 years, centred around the care of people (Service Users).

This has included mental health, learning and physical disabilities, residential and sheltered homes for older persons.

These different roles allowed me to interact with the service user and to understand their needs / requirements and meeting some fantastic personalities along the way.

In a recent role of carer I have organised then presented different activities to the service users. This role I found exceedingly rewarding, especially the fun activities where the service users responses and interactions are greatly increased.

I have presented karaoke for a number of years and love the feeling this type of entertainment gives to individuals taking part, knowing they are in a safe environment with people with the same sort of disabilities where they can really be a part of the singing experience without being embarrassed.

Personally, I love music and feel so comfortable when singing and having fun. I believe it doesn’t matter what others think about my singing ability. So what if I am not an ‘X factor’ finalist, I don’t care what others think, it's me that is enjoying myself...!!

I decided to bring the enjoyment from singing from a static place of work into the community. I have the desire and drive to share this experience with others, so that they too can engage in this fun filled activity.

For the past year I have presented numerous karaoke events and so far the people who have taken part have thoroughly enjoyed themselves.

At each subsequent visit I have noticed a remarkable increase in their confidence and self esteem. This has re-enforced my passion and commitment to continue to provide a fun-filled session with lots of laughter and a sense of belonging.

Since branching out on my own, I feel that I am confident and proficient in the operation of the equipment and able to provide a well organised, ‘needs led’ session.

With the success of this initial venture I have extended my repertoire and can provide other fun activity sessions.

With this website and supporting information I have tried to fully explain my commitment to this project and how I would like to present this opportunity to clients.

Please contact me if you have any questions concerning my experience, commitment or if you would like to clarify certain issues written down. Any feedback on this will be incorporated into my procedures to make the event enjoyable for the audience and singers.

Thank you

Bernie
